THINGS WE ATE IN ITALY

Since I am about halfway through the Italy posts, I thought there was no better time to bombard you with some pictures of things we ate in Italy. Hint: pretty much all pasta and pizza. Enjoy!

^^ First meal in Italy!

Ok the next few pictures are from the place we went to dinner in Manarola. While ordering, the waiter told us about the seafood sampler we should share, and we thought why the heck not.

It was unbelievable. And a lot of seafood. Some of it was really really good. And some of it was a little too seafoody for my taste. But when else can you have 12 different types of seafood in one sitting?

Fun fact: pesto originated in the Cinque Terre area, so you know this pesto and potato pasta was sooooo tasty.

They put the spicy sauce in the skeleton obviously

I have always been a fan of gnocchi, and in case you were wondering it is superb in Italy.

Probably Scot's favorite meal of the trip-

Yes Scott did get a hamburger in Italy, but it is ok because look where he got it from-

Hahah makes me laugh every time. I guess I can't talk though because more than once we opted for some Italian fast food.

Pizza and french fries are actually a glorious combination.

^^ note to the world. Sometimes Italian menus aren't the easiest to read, and you think you are getting shrimp but instead you get this in some cornmeal mush. Scott still managed to put it down.

^^ lobster spaghetti aka the best meal in Italy.

Scott was brave and tried fried seafood, without having any idea what he would get.

The last night in Italy Scott ordered lobster spaghetti, because the other night mine was so delicious. Of course being at a different restaurant, he didn't quite get the same meal.

Stay tuned for the video where he tries to figure out how to eat it.

If it wasn't for all the walking and sweating we did that trip, I think I would be 50 pounds heavier. And now I am starving.

PISA

Our train from Cinque Terre to Florence passed through Pisa, so we obviously had to make a stop. We literally ran out of the train station, snapped a few pictures, and ran back to catch the next train. Short but sweet! Happy long weekend! I know I am SO looking forward to spending more time with Scott. I got quite used to having him by my side 24/7 this summer...

VERNAZZA

Just hitting up our boy Rick Steves to find a place to eat dinner.  And recovering from that hike. I don't think we moved for a good half hour.

The places we decided to go to, a place that the LeFevre's friend had said was the place where he had one of the best meals of his life at, was CLOSED. So we got pizza instead. Because when all else fails, pizza is the answer. Especially when you are in Italy.

Our last stop in Cinque Terre was Vernazza. Just like all the rest of these beautiful cities,  I just couldn't get enough. Also- since life is getting a little bit more regular and organized in the Hiatt home, I have decided to post Italy pictures twice a week. I can't believe I am almost halfway through our trip!
