HIKE

We took a few wrong turns along the way, but luckily every now and then one of these signs would pop up and we knew we were going the right way. 

This was one wrong turn we took but it led us to one of the most breathtaking views of the ocean. So worth it.

One of the coolest things about Cinque Terre, is that you can hike to each city. Unfortunately while we were there, a lot of the hikes were closed due to landslides, but we were able to do the hike between Monterosso and Vernazza.  The hike was so beautiful. So much ocean. But the first part of the hike was a lot of stairs and I was seriously doubting I could actually do it. Once we got passed that part though it wasn't so bad. And the views of the ocean were superb. Once we got there we immediately found the closest bench and parked ourselves there for a bit. Cuz I sort of felt like dying. 

MONTEROSSO

Monterosso was a little different than the cities we visited, because it was a lot more commercial. The city was much flatter and pretty much the only thing to do was the beach. But we aren't complaining. It turns out that if you want a good spot on the beach, you have to pay for an umbrella for the day. Since we were only planning on staying for a few hours, and trying to save where we could, we opted for the free part of the beach. The free beach was suuuuper crowded and the sand was rocky and not the most comfortable to lay out on, so we renting kayaks. Monterosso was probably my least favorite of all of the cities, but that's ok because we got to swim in the Mediterranean, something I never thought I would do. 

FERRY RIDE

Ok I think this was one of my favorite things we did the whole trip. If you ever are in Cinque Terre, try taking the ferry one day instead of the trains. It is longer and more pricey but absolutely worth it! Our hotel was in La Spezia so we took it out to the farthest town, Monterosso, so we got to pass all the other towns along the way.
