JOES REAL BBQ

Scott and I realized we only have three weeks left in Arizona!

I think we actually will miss this place!

A while back we went to Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert with some family friends. It is a super cool restaurant where they grow all of their own ingredients! It's like healthy (?) glamours fast food deliciousness.

We heard there was another Joe's in Gilbert as well, Joe's Real BBQ. So with our time here running out, we knew we had to try it.

First of all, downtown Gilbert is so cute! If we weren't so hungry we would have probably walked around for a bit.

The restaurant had the nicest outside sitting area. Too bad it was like a bizzillion degrees outside.

It's cool cuz the inside was just as pleasant!

But the real winner was the AMAZING FOOD.

Ok I didn't really grow up eating BBQ so I don't have that much to go off of, but Scott, who is quite the connoisseur of fine southern cooking, said it's the best darn BBQ in Arizona (in a southern accent of course).

I got the pulled pork and chicken

The pulled pork was ahhhhmazing.

Scott got the sampler.

Which was basically every type of meat you could fit on on plate.

The mac cheese was bomb

And we topped the meal off with some of their blueberry cheesecake.

I love cheesecake so much. Definitely one of my favorite desserts. And this did not disappoint.

It's a given that Joe's has our recommendation. So if you are ever in the Phoenix area you gotta check it out!

One of the best parts?

Leftovers!!

BEST BURGERS EVER

I grew up on in-n-out.

Almost any major life event was accompanied with a meal from there.

I even debated going there on my wedding day.

But decided against that...

Which was a good idea since I could barely eat anything that day.

But this recipe is almost as good as having the real thing.

Almost.

These burgers though- melt in your mouth.

Here is what you need:

2 pounds ground beef, one egg (beaten), 3/4 cup dried bread crumbs, 3 tablespoons evaporated milk, 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce, 1/8 teaspoon of hamburger seasoning, and one clove of garlic minced.

Combine all of it in a bowl.

Then using your hands mix it all together.

Then separate it into EIGHT pattys.

(I halved the recipe and only made four)

Then put them on the grill at high heat!

The cook for about 5 minutes on each side.

While those are cooking mix up the sauce.

Here is what you need:

1/2 cup of mayo, 2 tablespoons of ketchup, 2 teaspoons of relish, 2 teaspoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 1 teaspoon of onion powder.

Okay this is not as good as the real thing because nothing is.

But after years of searching, this is the closest I have come.

Put them in a bowl.

And mix it together!

Set aside and check on your burgers,

Or the babe in the wife b cooking them,

Once they are almost done add some cheese

Let the cheese melt and toast your buns!

After a minute remove from the grill.

How good do those look? DYING.

Combine the bun, burger, sauce, and any other fixing you like.

And enjoy!

THROWBACK THURSDAY: ELEVEN

Today marks eleven months of officially being married!

How has it almost been a year?

We thought it would be fun if we (briefly) shared some of our favorite (documented) moments as mr and mrs.

We went on the most perfect honeymoon ever

We moved into our first apartment.

And with some help got everything built and set up within 2 days.

We realized how expensive grocery shopping for two was

Scott dominated intramurals. And like the good wife I am, I always went to support him.

Even when he wore his tall tee.

We finally went to Lighting of the Riverwoods... something we talked about the night we met.

Like all newlyweds we have our disagreements. And like all newlyweds we look for positive ways to solve them.

Scott never understood (and still doesn't understand) why we needed so many pillows on our bed

His solution? Create a pillow barricade for me to trip over in the morning in hopes that I would then proceed to throw all of our pillows out the window in a hysteric rage.

I plan on buying more.

We realized that our apartment in the winter is a death trap

And I baked... a lot.

We had our first christmas together

And I got to experience the wonders of northern North Carolina

I was surprised with flowers and sweet notes on more than one occasion

Scott demonstrated his fashion sense.

And on this guy's 24th birthday we found out he got his dream internship with Honeywell and we would be spending the summer in AZ

We went to in-n-out a lot.

And I got the best valentines day present

White chocolate reeses and roses... like what else could you need.

I went to China... twice

Which also meant I got to reunite with Scott with twice.

We had some of the most amazing donuts ever.

Seriously why did we have to discover these right before we left? Counting down the days til we are back provo and we can eat these babies again. '

We had to say bye to our fav couple who peaced out to Portland

We packed up our apartment and headed out to Phoenix.

Where Scott started his internship

And I started a cooking blog

We explored a lot and Scott's been great in letting me take billions of photos of him with my new camera

We ate some great food

And some great donuts.

Scott has accomplished his goal of grilling in his wife b

And we kept ourselves entertained by playing poker, betting with chapsticks

I finally won settlers!

And celebrated with my favs

We survived our first monsoon

And we rounded out our first eleven months of marriage with me cooking a meal that was so bad we threw it all away and got in-n-out instead.

Here is to eleven million months more!!
