When Scott ended his summer internship, we knew he would be working for Honeywell after graduation.
We just had no clue where.
We were told that we would find out sometime in September. He really could go anywhere in the United States. We made lists and rankings of cities we would like to go to and I began researching everything I could about the possibilities.
A week later we were in North Carolina with Scott's family when we got an email from Honeywell. I remember Scott saying "We are going to Colonial Heights Virginia!"
My thoughts were as followed:
1. Where the heck is Colonial Heights?
2. What am I going to do for work out there? Are there even any film related jobs? Does this mean we should just have a baby?
3. This is exactly where we are supposed to be.
Turns out Colonial Heights is just outside of Richmond. The only thing I knew about Richmond was it was the capital of Virginia, thanks to Miss Montgomery's first grade class.
But the more and more I researched it, the more and more excited I was to get a taste of life on the east coast. And the south. The Museum of the Confederacy will be an easy hop away from me. How fun.
Scott and I flew out to Virginia this weekend, and drove down to Richmond with his parents to see the city, go apartment hunting, stuff like that. And I think it is a good sign that I already want to go back.
The Hiatts taking the city...
We looked at apartment after apartment....
I realized the most important factor for Scott is price. Mine is windows.
So thankful for such an amazing mother in law.
And for my hot photographer husband
Ok one more picture of the skyline.
The rooftop view from one of the apartments we looked at- definitely the top of my list.
Reason #239892834 why Sharon is the coolest.
Before we headed out, my mom reminded me that I was going to be seeing Richmond at its worst. Even with the browns and bare branches, I fell in love with the city.
Can't wait to move here this summer!
