TWO YEARS

Two years ago Scott blindsided me with a proposal that I didn't think was coming until Spring. Is it weird to say how I had no idea how perfect he was back then? I loved him and I knew I had to marry him, but in the last two years I have uncovered how truly perfect he really is for me.

This past week has been one of the busiest and most stressful of my life. I was finishing up a huge project at work and the only time I was ever at our apartment was to sleep. Scott played housewife and did the grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning, cooking (going and getting fast food) and even came to keep me company when I was at work until 2am. He would get up with me early in the morning and would wait until I got home to go to bed. I am so lucky to have him as such a support.

We celebrated our engagement-aversary with burgers (I have time to cook dinner again!) and dropping my ring off for a couple of weeks to get cleaned and redipped. Is it normal that I still get really sad to part with it?

We took selfies in the mirror, found me another ring to wear for the time being, and then I left him to go watch the Bachelor with some friends. Why does Prince Farming's taste in girls seriously suck? Also why is he so boring? As my mom put it "Being stuck in Iowa with him would be deadly"

RICHMOND

When Scott ended his summer internship, we knew he would be working for Honeywell after graduation.

We just had no clue where.

We were told that we would find out sometime in September. He really could go anywhere in the United States. We made lists and rankings of cities we would like to go to and I began researching everything I could about the possibilities.

A week later we were in North Carolina with Scott's family when we got an email from Honeywell. I remember Scott saying "We are going to Colonial Heights Virginia!"

My thoughts were as followed:

1. Where the heck is Colonial Heights?
2. What am I going to do for work out there? Are there even any film related jobs? Does this mean we should just have a baby?
3. This is exactly where we are supposed to be.

Turns out Colonial Heights is just outside of Richmond. The only thing I knew about Richmond was it was the capital of Virginia, thanks to Miss Montgomery's first grade class.

But the more and more I researched it, the more and more excited I was to get a taste of life on the east coast. And the south. The Museum of the Confederacy will be an easy hop away from me. How fun.

Scott and I flew out to Virginia this weekend, and drove down to Richmond with his parents to see the city, go apartment hunting, stuff like that. And I think it is a good sign that I already want to go back.

The Hiatts taking the city...

We looked at apartment after apartment....

I realized the most important factor for Scott is price. Mine is windows.

So thankful for such an amazing mother in law.

And for my hot photographer husband

Ok one more picture of the skyline.

The rooftop view from one of the apartments we looked at- definitely the top of my list.

Before we headed out, my mom reminded me that I was going to be seeing Richmond at its worst. Even with the browns and bare branches, I fell in love with the city.

Can't wait to move here this summer!

LATER TWENTYFOURTEEN

Happy 2015!

I cannot believe another year has passed. I also cannot believe that I am no longer in beautiful San Diego but freezing cold Provo.

We spent our last night of 2014 eating at Corvette Diner and then going to a Straight No Chaser concert. Probably not the wildest night but it was so fun to celebrate with family.

And I got to see my most favorite Christmas song preformed live! It was probably one of the greatest concerts I have been to- they were AMAZING.

Growing up I never got to eat junk or sugary foods. So my dad started the tradition of taking me and my niece and nephew to the grocery store every New Year's day and we could buy whatever we wanted. That tradition has passed down to my nieces. As you can see from the above picture, they did pretty well this year.

2014 was such an amazing year. 2015 is going to bring a lot of different adventure and change, but I am so excited to do all of it with my best friend.
